Objective: Students will create a poem about who they are, as unique individuals.

Activity:

SEL Competency: Self Awareness

Equity Connections: Looking at various social identities and understanding cultural identities.

Activity #1:

Introduce "I Am Poem Templates" (attached document) and "Where I'm from poems - Project Hope" examples (attached document).

As a group, go through the poem and use the protocol, Partners, to have students share verbally, what they would answer for the different lines.  

Hand out the template for the poem. Have students use Moment of Silence protocol, to create their poem. 

Activity #2:

Use Inner/Outer Circle protocol, to have students share out their poems with each other.
